Travel Plan

Day 1: Sossusvlei /Namib Desert

Pick up from your accommodation in Windhoek is at 8h00. The journey takes you to the World’s oldest desert via the scenic ‘Spreetsgooste Pass ‘and then to Solitaire. Proceed to our beautiful overnight Lodge arriving mid-afternoon. Settle in and enjoy the magnificent view unfold before us. Overnight stay at Sossus Dune Lodge with Dinner and Breakfast.

Day 2: Activity Day Sossusvlei

Off to the attraction area; Sossusvlei, Dune45, Deadvlei and Big Daddy. Deadvlei was once an oasis packed with Acacia trees and fed by a river that suddenly changed course, leaving the earth to dry up together with the trees it previously supported. Deadvlei is now a famous cracked clay pan filled with beautiful intricate shaped dead tree, surrounded by giant red dunes. Dune 45 is renowned for its elegant shape and is one of the most photographed sand dune in the area. Once you have explored Sossusvlei dunes field we then drive back to our lodge right in time for Lunch and the rest of the day will be at leisure. Overnight stay at Sussus Dune Lodge with Dinner and Breakfast.

Day 3: Swakopmund

Depart northwest via Solitaire, Gaub and Kuiseb Pass into Namib Naukluft park, passing fantastic rock formation and ever changing Desert landscape. If time allows we will stop at the Walvisbay lagoon to enjoy the view and watch the flamingos and other bird species, before we continue with our journey to Swakopmund. Overnight at Prost Hotel with Breakfast.

Day 4: Free time at Swakopmund on the Atlantic

Swakop is the adventure capital of Namibia. Optional activities range from Board cruisers, Sandwich Harbour tour, Quad biking. There are countless photo opportunities, nice cafes, an indoor pool, aquarium and a very interesting museum. Overnight at Prost Hotel with Breakfast.

Day 5: Windhoek

After Breakfast, and with much great impression our safari is slowly ending as you hop into our Safari vehicle and drive back to Windhoek. On arrival, you will be dropped at your accommodation of choice.

Facts about Namibia

Location: Southern Africa, bordering the South Atlantic Ocean between Angola and South Africa.

Namibia is the second least densely populated country on earth, after Mongolia which is also a vast country, there are just over two million people living in Namibia.

Namibia has the largest free roaming Cheetah population on earth, estimated to be between 2500 – 3000. Lions and Leopards are also indigenous cats in Namibia.

Climate: The climate is typical of a semi Desert country, days are warm to hot and nights are generally cool. Temperatures are modified by the high plateau in the interior and by the Cold Benguela Current that runs along the Atlantic coastline.
Winter months, are typical mild to warm, but dawn temperatures may drop to freezing, therefore a warmer jacket and a long trousers are essential. Along the coast it can be very cold and windy, sometime foggy.

Summer months, Cotton clothes which is cooler then synthetic material is recommended for the Namibian summer and can be purchased in Safari shops in Windhoek. The rainy season lasts from October to April and the rest of the year is dry and cloudless. Namibia averages 300 days of sunshine a year.

Packaging Suggestions

You can expect hot, wet summers and cooler, dry winters in Namibia. Generally the days can be quite hot and the evenings and early mornings can be remarkably cool.

Luggage:

Should be limited to a maximum of 20 kg.
Only soft canvas bags or rucksacks are recommended, hard suitcases are not suitable.
Due to the dust conditions, we suggest you keep your camera equipment in dust proof bag.
